Stabat Mater Press
Under the Patronage of Our Lady of Sorrows
About us
Founded in 2024, Stabat Mater Press is a traditional Catholic publishing house dedicated to the restoration and preservation of the Church’s intellectual and spiritual patrimony. We publish books rooted in the traditional Faith: works on the interior life, Church history, hagiographies, and Catholic political thought; books that nourish the soul and sharpen the mind. Our primary focus is on the rebuilding of Christendom. We prioritize works that are expressly related to, or can shed light on, the Social Kingship of Our Lord.
Since the Fall, the world has always worked against Almighty God (John 15:18-19). On this point, we are convinced that, now more than ever, there is a concerted effort by the enemies of Holy Mother Church to attack Our Lord's Social Kingship. This can be seen clearly in the theopolitical quality of Catholic books published in the past sixty years. Some of the greatest works regarding Our Lord's Social Kingship were published before the Council, and have yet to be brought back in print. Our goal is to do just that.
Alongside original manuscripts, we also restore older texts. Unfortunately, many modern publishers merely bind nearly unreadable scanned copies of older texts, without meaningful enhancements or editorial care. Contrariwise, every title that we publish is completely reformatted and restored, making them feel as though they were written yesterday. Although more time-consuming, we take this route because it safeguards the substance of the work while presenting it in a form accessible to the modern reader. We also shape each book to feel newly written, since the Truths of the Faith are perennially relevant and remain the Truth, regardless of the age. Many of these had fallen into obscurity, and we consider it a privilege to bring them back into print for new generations.
As a family-owned publishing house, we take seriously the idea that Catholic books should be made by Catholics and for Catholics—those formed by the Faith, obedient to the Church, and committed to tradition.
Our Editorial Stance
This press exists because the modern Catholic world has - despite all its talk of continuity - effectively buried a thousand years of its own voice. The old books, the old devotions, and the much needed old clarity of thought all have been left to rot in attic boxes and secular libraries. We intend to bring them back for the modern reader.
We hold fast to the See of Peter and profess what the Church has always taught. But let it be said plainly: the Church did not begin in 1965. We love the Latin Mass and traditional devotions because they formed saints and sustained civilization; these are not simply preferences of aesthetics. We also recognize the confusion and errors that have plagued our Holy Mother Church for the past sixty-years. Thus, we republish forgotten works that aim to arm the Catholic mind against modernity, not “dialogue” with it. The faith we represent is Catholicism as it was lived and understood for two millennia. We are not interested in accommodating the spirit of the age. Our primary aim is to rebuild Christendom.
Our Current Presence on Amazon
For now, you may notice that many of our titles feature an "Amazon Only Product" tag above the product. As a new publishing house, it is most convenient for us to fulfill some of our orders through Amazon at this time. We are planning a full migration of our catalog onto our website and off of Amazon, as to promote what Theo Howard has called The Little Way of Christendom. To learn more about this project, please see this page.
However, other titles which do not feature the "Amazon Only Product" tag will be printed and shipped directly from Stabat Mater Press.
Please note for shipping and returns, we can only control what is ordered directly from our website. If you have ordered a copy of one of our titles from Amazon and have an issue with shipping, please contact Amazon.
Thank you for your patience and your support!

Manuscript Submissions
We welcome manuscripts that align with the spirit and mission of this press: works that uphold the perennial teachings of the Church, that speak from within the tradition rather than standing above it, and that reject the false comforts of modernity in favor of truth spoken plainly.
We are especially interested in texts that deal with the interior life, the history of the Church and her saints, pre-conciliar theology, Catholic political thought, and cultural or devotional works that deserve resurrection. Polemical writing is welcome, provided it is lucid, charitable, and uncompromising in doctrine.
We accept both original manuscripts and carefully edited historical works now in the public domain. If your work is suited to our catalog, we will treat it with the same seriousness with which we treat our own.
To submit a brief description of your work, a table of contents, and the full manuscript, please see the Contact page.
We do not publish works that promote novelty, pluralism, or compromise.

We offer bulk discounts on the majority of our titles. If you are a bookstore, parish, or anyone else wishing to place a bulk order, please see the Contact page for inquiries.
